Goals:

Design a Reusable Sports Armband for Non-Invasive Optical Sensor

• Maintain optical contact with skin and sensor placement during exercise
• Fit different arm sizes and maintain as shape changes with arm movement
• Waterproof and breathable for outdoor use

Roles:

• Research anthropometric data
• Source stretch and gripping waterproof utility fabrics
• Design pattern for anatomical fit and sensor pocket
• Construct prototype, adjusting stretch for sensor fit

Results:

Functioning prototype created to fit average arm sizes, pattern for larger

• Prototype delivered in less than a week, used in product demo
• Design included in Patent #2013023071 A1 ‘Patient interface for optical sensor’
